This is a large porringer or 1 handled covered casserole dish that was made by the M.A. Hadley company of Louisville, Ky. Mary Alice Hadley first made a set of these type of dishes for herself in 1939. They caused such a stir that she went into business in 1940 making these popular hand crafted dishes. This porringer is in the Ship or Clipper Ship pattern and it measures 6.5 inches across plus the handle and holds 1 1/2 pints. It is in very nice condition with no chips or cracks.
